Simple English definitions for legal terms

frame-up

Read a random definition: common duty of care

A quick definition of frame-up:

error

A more thorough explanation:

A frame-up is a scheme or plot to make an innocent person look guilty of a crime they did not commit.

  • John was framed for stealing money from the cash register at work. His co-worker planted the money in his bag to make it look like he did it.
  • The police officer was accused of framing a suspect by planting evidence at the crime scene.

These examples show how someone can be falsely accused of a crime through a frame-up. In the first example, John was innocent but was made to look guilty by his co-worker. In the second example, the police officer abused their power by planting evidence to make someone appear guilty.
